How to use PocketStacks
Twelve short steps. The same guide is in the app under Settings → How to use. How to install it as an app
Start
Pick your region (currency and labels follow). Start blank, or explore the sample data first and clear it later in Settings.
Your stacks
Everything you own and owe sits in 12 stacks: cash, savings, super, shares, ETFs, crypto, property, property loans, vehicles, vehicle loans, other assets and other debts. Tap one to open it. Enter one total, or list each account or holding. Stacks you don't use sit at the bottom; Hide unused tucks them away.
Once a month
Open each stack and enter today's figure. If nothing changed, tap Confirm unchanged. When every stack is done, tap Lock in. The new month then joins your charts. Missed a month? The app offers to fill it in or carry balances forward.
Pay check-ins
Paid weekly or fortnightly? Settings → Pay check-ins: pick how often, your first pay date and when to be reminded (the day after is a good default). On pay day the app asks Did you get paid?, then a quick check-in: Unchanged or Change for cash, savings, shares, ETFs and crypto, plus what you were paid. Each check-in goes into the month in progress, so Lock in works as before. Add the repeating reminder to your phone's calendar from the same screen. Monthly stays the default. Once you have two check-ins, the chart tabs gain Pay by pay: net worth at each check-in, grouped weekly, fortnightly or monthly, with the change each period.
Property and vehicles
Add each property with its value, loan and repayments, and tick Rented out to compare rent with the loan. With more than one rental, rent is entered per property. Flag a cash or savings account as an offset on its own editor. Vehicles can value themselves from the price you paid and the date, or you type the value. Pick the vehicle a vehicle loan is secured against to see its loan-to-value on the loan and its equity on the vehicle.
Income
Log salary, rent and overtime each month. Kept shows how much of your income ended up as net worth (it includes market moves).
Charts
Today shows every stack over time: 6M and 1Y as bars, 2Y and All as areas, Zoom for net worth only, +12 mo for your pace. Swipe for Waterfall, Changes, Year on year, Growth, Projection and Pay by pay (once you track weekly or fortnightly pay). Drag a chart to read any month; Show the numbers gives the table.
History sheet
Under the chart, Show the numbers, then Open the history sheet: every month and stack in one grid. Tap a cell to type, paste a block from a spreadsheet, or add a missing month. Save applies the lot and can be undone.
Goals
Set up to six goals for your net worth or any stack, with an optional date. Each one says whether you're ahead or behind and when you'd get there at your current pace.
Import
Settings → Import data: export a workbook (one Excel file of everything, with a client name) and import it back after editing, with a dry run first. Or download a template, or bring in a CompiledSanity sheet, Sharesight, SelfWealth or CommSec files, or any broker's trade history. Files are read on your device. The last import can be undone.
Install it as an app
Add PocketStacks to your Home Screen so it opens full screen like an app, works offline and keeps your figures safer. iPhone and iPad: in Safari, Share → Add to Home Screen. Android: in Chrome, ⋮ menu → Add to Home screen → Install. Full steps: Settings → How to install.
Keep it safe
Your figures stay on this device. Export a backup from Settings (you'll be reminded monthly), or connect your own cloud storage to sync. Install it to your Home Screen so it opens like an app and works offline.
Install it as an app
From your Home Screen it opens full screen, works offline, and your phone is less likely to clear your figures.
iPhone and iPad (Safari)
- Open your PocketStacks link in Safari and enter your access code.
- Tap Share. On iOS 26, tap the ⋯ button beside the address bar first, then Share. On older versions the Share button (a square with an arrow) is in the toolbar.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Leave Open as Web App switched on (iOS 26), then tap Add.
- Open PocketStacks from your Home Screen and enter your access code once more.
The Home Screen app keeps its own storage, separate from Safari. Add your figures in the Home Screen app. If you already started in Safari: there, Settings → Export a backup now; then in the Home Screen app, Settings → Restore a backup and choose that file.
Android (Chrome)
- Open your PocketStacks link in Chrome and enter your access code.
- Tap Install if Chrome offers it. Otherwise tap the ⋮ menu (top right), then Add to Home screen (or Install app), then Install.
- Open PocketStacks from your Home screen or app drawer.
Samsung Internet: tap the ≡ menu, then Add page to → Home screen.
Computer
- Chrome or Edge (Windows, Mac, Chromebook): click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install PocketStacks.
- Safari on a Mac: File → Add to Dock.
Like iPhone, a Safari web app on a Mac keeps its own storage: move figures across with Export and Restore.
